Access to pool or spa should be limited by locked doors and gates whenever swimming cannot be supervised.

Do not allow anyone of any age to swim without a "spotter" nearby. EXAMPLES OF GOOD SAFETY BEHAVIOR BY ADULTS ARE IMPORTANT FOR YOUNG CHILDREN.

It is advisable for parents, guardians and babysitters to know cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR).

Demand that no diving take place following consumption of alcohol or drugs.

Divers should never be allowed to dive from the side or the shallow ends of the pool. This reduces chances of the diver striking the opposite wall or the bottom of the pool.

Place a telephone at poolside. In case of emergency, DIAL 911.
